Funny X Mean

At the crossroads of Funny and Mean is this Vogue article by Bloomingdale’s heiress Hayley Bloomingdale. She writes The Instagram Rules: The Good, the Bad, and the Very BoringBut who made her the Queen of ‘Gram? I think it is a pretty hilarious, though harsh, article. But, I follow no rules for Instagram. My advise? Just ‘Gram what you want, when you want.

After-all, she does say the rules are made to be broken…

03METGALA-master315Tonight, the 1% of everyone who is anyone in fashion/film/music/Silicon Valley/Wall Street (etc) is going to be on Fifth Avenue for the Met Gala to celebrate China: Though the Looking Glass, the Costume Institute’s Spring exhibition. Goes without saying, we all must bow down to the leading lady behind all of this, Ms. Anna Wintour. The LA Times about Ms. Wintour: “The event has become a testament to the unmistakable power of it’s co-host.” Yes, power.

I am as excited about the red carpet tonight as I am about the exhibit. From fashion’s eyes, where East meets West,  “the exhibition will explore the impact of Chinese aesthetics on Western fashion and how China has fueled the fashionable imagination for centuries.” Cuts, prints, colors.. this sounds intriguing!

The Instagirls Cover

Vogue’s September Issue cover features “model of the moments” like Karlie Kloss, Cara Delevigne and Joan Smalls. I think this proves, once again, that Anna Wintour is a god amongst human magazine editors. Instead of a sea of celebrity profiles, she took it back to the models that have major social media followings and are on the pulse of what’s going on right now. Hearty applause!

Here’s a cute video of the cover girls talking about posing and what they think of when they hear “supermodels”. I love that most mentioned my favorite all-time model, Christy Turlington, first. Speaking of Queen Christy, have you seen her lately? She’s looking better than ever.
